It's 2014!

Happy New Year!

If you have any ideas for programming, send an email to us!  We are always interested in presenting programs that you will be interested in!

Don't forget, A Tale for Three Counties has chosen the book for this year: The Age of Miracles, by Karen Thompson Walker.  We should have a large print copy here, shortly!

Remember, if you have NEW laptops or tablets... bring them on in!  Angel has been learning how to use a Nabi2-- which is for kids, but has also become pretty good at navigating anything Android.  If you have no idea what that is--come in and find out!

Stay warm tonight--why not stop in the library for a Book or Movie to keep you occupied when you are waiting for more snow to fall?

What to do, what to do...

Wondering what to do with your garden?  Debating on putting in a "Victory Garden"?  Wondering what the heck a Victory Garden is?  Once you plan on spending more time outdoors, since it is nice enough to enjoy your backyard, you may want to visit the Library, too!  We have Magazines and a Gardening section, with great low cost ideas on how to spruce up your yard!  We also have a large crafting section, so you can find some interesting things to do by "re-purposing" some things you can't figure out what to do with!  In addition to planting flowers, if you are considering other additions, you may want to consult the Zoning Code, as well as find out who the Zoning Officer is, and how to contact them.  We have that information, too!

Come on down, and get some fresh Spring ideas!

Spring Happenings!!

The Letter People ARE back!  Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9am until 10am.  Bring your preschoolers to learn about the letters of the alphabet, for a bit of a snack, and a craft!  We also have interactive learning games and three computers set up just for the little ones.  They do not have internet access from the children's computers.

Feeling a little if-y when it comes to using your new laptop or eReader?  A tablet giving you some difficulties?  Come on down on Tuesday nights at 7pm.  This is not a formal class, in the sense that I give out notes [unless requested] or we have attendance or assignments.  I will work with you personally and help you set up your laptop and get you acquainted with different programs that you would like to use.  If you have Windows 8, or know someone who does, you can bring it on down, and with the help of a few tried and trusted programs, I can help you get back a "start" button, and disable those little pop-up "helpers" that are around the screen.  If you have a certain problem, or a request for learning certain programs, call me ahead of time [Monday or Tuesday, before 5pm] and I can come up with some 'notes' to help you while you get comfortable learning your new technology!

Story time is back, too!  On Thursday nights, from 7pm on, I will be available to read to your little people!  Bring them on down, and feel free to browse the shelves, read a magazine [from gardening to travel, fitness, hunting and science], or use a computer!

I hope this is a VERY Merry Christmas for everyone!  Just a little reminder:  if you get fingerprints on your new DVD/BluRay discs--clean them off with a SOFT warm cloth, and wipe from the center out, like radiating sun beams!  This will keep you from putting in circular grooves, which is why they skip.  Especially remember to not let your little people spin the disc in its case! This also leads to grooves that create skips.  If you have the wipes used for cleaning eye-glasses, those work great!!  And NEVER, EVER bring a disc in from the out-of-doors, and try to pop it out of its case!!  Those little arms that hold in the disc are what cause the cracks and chips along the inner rim.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE wait until they reach room temperature!!  This will keep your discs happy and healthy, as well as ours.

So remember, no spinning the discs in anything other than a player, and N-E-V-E-R try to take a cold disc out of its case.  Please wait until they are room temperature, which can be anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes.  You'll keep yours longer, you won't have to worry about borrowing ours if yours skips, and if it's dirty, you now know how to clean it.
